Effective Math and Physics tutor, Master (MS) in Engineering from UCLA
My name is Matt, and I recently graduated from UCLA with a master of science in civil engineering. My undergraduate study was also at UCLA, and I received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, minoring in mathematics. I have been doing private in-home tutoring in all areas of mathematics and physics for the past six years. I possess excellent knowledge of providing customized tutoring services to students. My ability to work with students and parents in order to find ou…
John K. from Culver City, CA Excellent tutor. Came on time and helped my son dramatically increase his understanding of the subject. I look forward to our next session.
Jessica M. from Los Angeles, CA Matt was very helpful with my Physics. I came in very unsure and scared and with in the first session I was starting to feel a bit better. I still have a ways to go, but with his help I am confident I can get there. He broke down the essential parts of the formulas and problems in a way that was much easier to understand and didn't seem as daunting. So far I'm very pleased.
Alexander B. from Los Angeles, CA Maham was very knowledgeable and approachable. He assured me of my strengths and helped with my understanding of the material. I think that the time spent was valuable and very well organized. I felt like we got a lot done. I would highly recommend him to other students.
Lili G. from Los Angeles, CA My daughter, (11th grade) has been struggling in physics for a long time. She is currently failing her class. Since Matt has been tutoring her there has been a complete turn around in her understanding of physics. Matt comes ready to work. His passion for the topic is self evident from his teaching skills. He is personable and very bright. I know that my daughter will raise her grade because of Matt's tutoring ability. She is not so shut down. Hiring Matt is money well spent.
Kyle M. from Santa Monica, CA Maham does an excellent job of making physics concepts very simple! he gives certain rules of thumb that are concise and to the point. he makes physics much less challenging consequently! He reiterates certain analogies that I hear from my professor which reassures me that I'm getting quality service (i.e: the current is like water, or a short circuit can simply just be treated like wire) He is very patient and does his best to help his students. He will makes a majority of concepts easy to students who are dedicated and willing to understand the concepts of physics but are just simply struggling with the fundamentals. Once you master the fundamentals with Maham, you are now free to tackle the more difficult problems which the world of physics has to offer. And if you struggle with the more challenging problems, Maham is there for that too!
Sara T. from Los Angeles, CA Maham is the most amazing tutor ever. He has a fabulous understanding of mathematics and the way he explains concepts everything that was not clear to me became clear. I wish my teacher could explain and teach as well as Maham does. I would definitely recommend him.
Nicole F. from North Hollywood, CA Matt recently tutored me for an accelerated summer online finite math class. Though it was online, the midterm and final were in person and worth about 80% of my grade. Matt was very patient with me and I could tell he really cared about my understanding of the material as well as how well I was doing in the class. He was very easy to work with and flexible with his time. I took this class once before with another tutor from this site and failed. However, I stuck with it and Matt has completely changed my feelings about this site and its tutors. Matt is great!
Tyler F. from Santa Monica, CA Maham is an excellent tutor and a very nice guy. He was extremely patient and helped me significantly in understanding multiple chapters of mathematics in our relatively short 2 hour session, with the exception that he was 30 minutes late to our session. Didn't really bother me since he was a great tutor, but because of the tardiness, I rated him a 4 out of 5. Mind you, a 4 out of 5 is by no means a bad rating. Fast forward a week, and I text Maham to ask him for another session to get ready for my math final, and he tells me that he will no longer tutor me because I gave him that 4 out of 5 rating. What?! He says it's not good for his profile to "not have good ratings." If a customer is not fully satisfied, wouldn't you, as a smart business person, want to prove your worth to your customer and make them want to give you better ratings? His logic is incomprehensible to me, and he has sent me scrambling to find another tutor before my final. It's really a shame, because he's a nice guy and great teacher. He just makes poor business and PR-related decisions.
Zi K. from Northridge, CA I had a tutoring session with Maham for the AP and Honors classes. I felt he was very knowledgeable and explained everything very thoroughly allowing me to see what I needed to work on. Maham's understanding of difficult subjects is amazing in itself. Even more amazing is his ability to help others understand difficult subjects with it, making every lesson fun and interesting!!!
