I started teaching English in rural China as a volunteer in 2003 while living in Beijing, and eventually began teaching phonics to Elementary Chinese students when I was in 9th grade. I developed my own curriculum using phonics cards and reading basic stories aloud, which eventually led to my students successful transition from a Chinese elementary school to an English-speaking International school.
