The “School in a Farmhouse” was founded during World War II to serve the women who went to work in the defense plants of Rochester. In 1967 Rita Barton left her career as hostess of the local Romper Room TV program to buy and redesign the school according to her vision.

The main building has been efficiently adapted to meet the needs of children while retaining a country ambiance. Each area has windows with views nooks and crannies and comfortable well-equipped classrooms.

We’re especially proud of our Baby Bungalow a separate building that houses infants in a tranquil environment.

And with over an acre of land we have room for playground adventures visiting our many gardens or simply taking a leisurely stroll. This facility is authorized to administer medications

We work to complement your family life by nurturing your child’s body mind and spirit. By working together we develop your child into a successful “big school” student.

We’ve seen the pendulum of education swing from one theory to another but have been around long enough to know what really works. Our curriculum introduces new levels of learning based on the emotional and cognitive readiness of each child. We also respect the importance of free play and natural curiosity as a basis for learning experiences.
