Skyview Elementary

Our curriculum is developmental in nature and is based off of the National
Association for the Education of the Young Child guidelines. We use the
Creative Curriculum and its assessment tool to guide the children through
their developmental milestones. Many teachers use a thematic approach to
help organize the childrens learning around a topic. Activities are designed to
promote stimulation in multiple areas of development: Social and Emotional,
Cognitive Development, Language Development, Physical Motor, Music, and
pre-readiness skills (introduction and exposure to math concepts, reading and
writing) Self Help Skills.
We have designed the morning class for three year olds and young fours. This class is where
young children learn how to follow routines, play with others, join groups and become members
of their classroom community as well as moving forward in the primary developmental domains.
The teaching techniques in this class focus on designing the environment and activities in such a
way that the young child learns through guided play to make predictions, to experiment, to
communicate their needs, thoughts and ideas, to explore materials creatively and to participate in
hands on learning.
