Sandersville Elementary is named in honor of the area where the school is located and the former thriving cotton-woolen mill community of Sandersville, which was vital to Lexington’s development. The $17.5 million school replaced Linlee Elementary, which closed in the spring of 2008.
Our building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, with a fully equipped computer lab and mini-labs in each classroom. Our students also participate in community service activities such as Gods Pantry, Pennies for Patients, the firefighters’ toy program and Jump Rope for Heart.

We believe that arts education is a fundamental part of a well-rounded school experience. Every student has a chance to perform in a monthly music showcase, and Sandersville has a traveling chorus that performs throughout the community. We also focus on individual students’ needs through such programs as Sharks on the Run, garden club, golf, tennis, a step team, STEM and robotics activities, and the PRIDE boys’ group.
In addition, we have developed partnerships with several local colleges including the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College.
