In Anchorage, the Child Development Center provides full-day, year-round child care for children between the ages of 19 months to five years. The Center has an open enrollment policy with a sliding tuition scale to benefit low-income families. The Center is licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage. In 2009, 50 children were served by the Center, and six transitioned to kindergarten. A Parent Council promotes family involvement in the Centers activities and events. The Center continues to maintain its participation in the Strengthening Families Initiative aimed at eliminating child abuse and neglect. RurAL CAP CDC believes that a childs growth at the Center must be understood and built upon by the family.
