First Lutheran Early Education Center

Established in 1957, First Lutheran School provides quality, Christian-based education to children in the South Bay area from pre-school through grade eight.

First Lutheran has an enrollment of approximately 400 students in Developmental Kindergarten through 8th grade, with two classes at every grade level from kindergarten through grade eight. Our Early Education Center (EEC) has an additional enrollment of 120 children ranging in age from six weeks to five years old.

First Lutheran succesSFully blends Christian teachings with a strong academic curriculum that follows the California content standards and includes additional enrichment classes in religion, physical education, art, vocal music, library skills and computer. Students also have many opportunities for extra-curricular involvement in after-school programs that include interscholastic sports teams, church youth groups, church choirs, chess club, performing arts classes and Spanish language instruction. Extended day care with qualified and caring counselors is offered between 7 and 8:30 a.m., and between 3 and 6 p.m.

The school’s campus is located at 2900 West Carson Street in Torrance, just east of the Del Amo Mall, and includes 22 classrooms, athletic and playground facilities, a library, a sanctuary, a meal kitchen and two multipurpose rooms.

As a school of the Evangelical Church in America (ELCA), First Lutheran offers a Christian education where Christ is taught in the classroom and where the Christian principles of love and forgiveness are taught and practiced in every arena of school life. A high level of parent involvement is to be found at every grade level throughout the school.
