The Co-op has been a part of Topanga Canyon for almost 50 years, touching the lives of generations of children and parents. First born in the living rooms of progressive-minded parents, the school has made its home in the beautiful Topanga Community House since 1969.
Our school is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization owned by the current membership and run by a board of member-directors. Parents actively participate in their childs learning experience, working in concert with teachers to provide a rich and loving environment. We offer at least one scholarship per
year, and keep our tuition as low as humanly possible, to bring Preschool within reach for families who otherwise could not afford it. Licensed to accomodate children aged 2-5 years, we also gladly accept children who still wear diapers.

Our curriculum is based on the Reggio Emilia approach to education, which focuses on the following principles:

Our program emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning through play, dramatic play, outdoor play, language arts, music and movement, and arts and crafts.
