Plumtree Preschool

The curriculum at Plumtree Preschool intentionally gives children many opportunities to explore, ask questions, and experiment to find answers and solve problems. We provide children with activities and materials that allow them to use their whole bodies and senses to discover more about the world and their place in it.

Through interest themes and Biblical themes preschoolers are given opportunities to grow toward school readiness as we follow the Massachusetts Department of Education Early Childhood Program Standards and the Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. We fully integrate academic areas of study throughout the themes we explore in relevant and exciting ways for preschoolers. Biblical concepts are integrated throughout each day through music, Scripture memory, books, and prayer. The interest themes and Biblical themes we explore go hand in hand. For example, we start the school year off in the Fall getting to know each other with the theme Meet My Family, Meet Me. We then expand on this theme through the Biblical theme God Made the World and God Made Me using Genesis 1 and 2.

It is the belief of Plumtree Preschool that school readiness requires a balance of academic skills and social skills. Therefore, we also implement activities and teaching strategies that provide children with much practice growing in skills required to be positive learners. These skills include making friends, developing self-control, feeling positive about yourself, respecting others, helpfulness, problem solving, and conflict resolution to name a few. These social skills require much practice and the time invested is well worth the work both immediately and for years to come.

Plumtree Preschool teaches children Spanish vocabulary and songs to give them a head start in learning a second language! We also explore different cultures and other parts of the globe so that our students can learn about what makes our world so unique. We welcome parents, families, and friends to come and talk to the class about their heritage or to share about places they have been in other parts of the world."
