We believe that children are learning all of the time, through their contacts with the people and things around them, and through their own natural curiosity.

Child development follows a predictable path, but with a unique timetable for each child. When children are provided with activities that are matched to their developmental level, and have opportunities each day to experience success, then learning occurs naturally and with it a positive self-image. We encourage the individual social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child. The role of the teacher is to establish an environment of exploration, providing hands-on activities which allow children to discover on their own. We find this fosters a childs independence and curiosity.

Our programs are designed to meet the service needs of our families by providing child care that is flexible in hours, is reasonably priced, and meets the parents needs for their children. We find parents can meet their own work and personal needs when they know their children are in a center that appreciates them as individuals, as members of a family, and strives to help children reach their potential through support and nurturing

We believe it is our responsibility to provide a setting which enhances individual strengths and differences, and which sees each unique child, parent, and staff person as a member of our community. We strive to incorporate individual personalities, skills, and needs into our classroom curriculum and special activities.

We subscribe to the following theories of learning:

A childs self-esteem is essential to the learning process. Children must feel valued for their individual characteristics and abilities, as well as their potential growth. Because successful socialization with peers and adults lead to increased selfesteem, opportunities for interaction are vital.

A physically and psychologically safe environment is necessary for growth. All children must be assured of an environment safe from physical and emotional harm. Our goal is for children to feel free to explore and contribute without fear of negative consequences.

Children learn through play. To play is to explore, to create, to test and to discover. Children use play to express themselves, to communicate with others, and to make sense of their world. Teachers can use childrens natural interest in play to stimulate all types of learning.

An integrated, multi-cultural school and staff contribute to the development of self-respect and appreciation of others. We are committed to learning more about cultural differences and fostering respect for diversity.

Learning is a cooperative process. When staff and families work together, the best atmosphere for learning occurs. Constant communication is essential.

Helping a child to develop independence is another goal. At every age, children have self-help skills to achieve. A child who has mastered putting on his or her coat or shoes, achieved toilet training, or learned how to properly dispose of a tissue, is well on his or her way to feeling confident of his or her own abilities.

Our children range in age from 4 weeks to 13 years, depending on the location. They live primarily in the Greater Boston area and surrounding communities. Our programs are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), are NAEYC accredited, and do not discriminate because of race, cultural heritage, national origin, marital status, religion, political beliefs, disability, or sexual orientation.
