At Simi Covenant Preschool we believe that God creates each child as a unique and special individual. We believe that children and families are important to God and that they are loved unconditionally by God. Therefore, we believe it is important to share God’s Word with young children, to present basic Bible truths to them, and to intorduce them to Jesus Christ.

We adhere to these basic principles of child development. Child development occurs in a number of different areas at the same time, it is sequential, and one area of development affects another. Children have individual rates of development that depend on both inherited characteristics and environmental experiences. Development moves from simple to complex, and it is considered to occur in stages. Individual development is a combination of maturation and learning. Each child has an individual learning style.

At Simi Covenant Preschool the staff provides an environment that encompasses a wide variety of developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences (cognitive, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual). We believe that children should be encouraged to explore and discover, to create and imagine. We believe that children should be encouraged to make choices, and to become more self-sufficient, but also to learn to participate and contribute to a group activity. We believe young children learn best through play. In addition, we believe that Preschool should be a place where children have lots of fun!
