The foundation of the Montessori experience, the primary program, is for children in the important early formative years. Beginning with practical and social skills, children learn to keep track of their belongings, to put things away, to share materials. Academics are introduced through concrete, manipulative materials which utilize all five senses and lay the groundwork for abstract thinking.

Casa follows the Montessori philosophy of grouping together children ages 2 to 6 years old in the same classroom. Casa has two classrooms with 25 children of mixed ages in each classroom. Each classroom has an AMI trained directress and an assistant. There are two additional assistants available to make materials, take children to the bathroom and help out where needed.

Lessons are given to children individually, in small groups and to the class as a whole throughout the morning. The children may work in any area in which they have been given a lesson. They may work independently or with other children as their interest leads them or as they are directed.

Casa de Montessori strives to provide a structured educational environment where children are carefully nurtured so that they are able to develop to their fullest potential.

Primary

The primary program starts at 8:45 am and goes to 12 pm for children 2, 3 and 4 years old.

Primary All-Day

The primary program starts at 8:45 am and goes to 3 pm for children 4 years old. Children are admitted using specific criteria and collaboration with the teachers and the school director.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten program starts at 8:45 am and goes to 3 pm for children who will be 5 years old by September 1 on the school year enrolled.

Afternoon Kindergarten Program

The kindergarten program adds additional skills for the children in the afternoon. Children must be enrolled in Casas morning program to be eligible for the afternoon kindergarten program. During the afternoon these children continue to concentrate in the areas of language and math, working on their skills of listening, speaking, comprehension, memorization, and writing.

Before / After School Care

Only those children attending Casas Montessori programs may use the Before and After School Care program.

Casa has a spacious room for before and after school care across the hall from our classrooms. There are a wide variety of books, puzzles, games, and art and craft materials. We have trucks, balls, dolls, play dishes, a doll house, sports equipment, building apparatus, etc.

The pre-school children using after school care bring their lunches and eat in this room. After lunch, they have an outside recess for about three quarters of an hour, then return inside to nap or rest quietly while a story is read to them.

The remainder of the day is used for individual or small group activities with a snack being served about 4 oclock..
