Kangaroo Day Care promotes a structured program of activities for cognitive enrichment, social and emotional well-being, and physical development.
Each child at the Center is encouraged to develop his/her talents and abilities in a family oriented environment. Development is enriched when a child can participate with other children in a planned program guided by supportive and nurturing professionals.
At Kangaroo Day Care we believe that providing a quality child care experience in a safe and secure environment is our number one priority. We will do everything possible to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Every student learns at a different pace that needs to be taken into consideration.
Making accommodations specifically to the needs of each child is necessary to ensure that the children are learning at each subject that is implemented. Despite the differences among children, they are all capable of learning. Proper lesson plans, and varied methodologies, make children learn at different paces which are more attainable for each child.

LEARNING CENTER

Our Program offers individualized activities that will encourage the growth and development of both social and cognitive skills. At Kangaroo Day Care in Northridge, we enhance both fine and large motor skills through various activities. Daily lesson plans are taught based on weekly themes. We also encourage independent and directed play through the following learning centers:

LANGUAGE – Language stimulation is developed on all levels from letter recognition to reading readiness. A child’s interest and skills are developed through the use of puppets, flannel boards, library, vocabulary and writing activities.

MATH – Using familiar manipulatives and activities, teachers develop basic math concepts, stimulating a child’s inquisitiveness by means of sorting, counting, problem solving, and patterning. As a result, math is made more meaningful in real life problems and situations.

SCIENCE – Simply put, our teachers use a hands-on approach. A wide variety of topics are taught including: seasons, our world, “all about me,” etc. Projects and experiments extend the learning program stimulating excitement through observation using the senses of sight, sound, taste, and touch.

LIBRARY – Appreciation and enjoyment of reading are developed through daily group reading, with recognition of authors and their writing styles.

MUSIC – Music activities help the child to hear differences in sounds, discover rhythm, and develop movement skills and spatial awareness. There is a once-a-week structured class in music plus in-classroom sessions where songs are used to enrich the learning experience in areas of concept and language development.

CONSTRUCTION – Children use their creativity by using blocks, trains, trucks, cars, etc. to develop fine motor skills.

SENSORY TABLE – This center stimulates their sense of touch by using a variety of different materials.

IMAGINATIVE PLAY – Children are encouraged to use their imagination. Dress up clothes, costumes, puppets, dolls and other props are provided.

ART – We encourage free art expression as well as participation in structured art projects.

PROGRESS REPORTS are issued twice a year, in addition to the parent-teacher conferences.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

Parental involvement has long been an important part of effective childcare programs. Parents who are involved are much more likely to encourage their child’s development at home and promote their child’s self-esteem.
Kangaroo Day Care encourages a strong relationship between parents and teachers. By working together a common goal can be achieved… the well being of your child.

SAFETY

Kangaroo Day Care takes the safety of our children very serious. All teacher and staff must first pass a comprehensive background check,
