Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with infants and toddlers and pregnant women.
Its mission is simple:
*To promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women
*To enhance the development of very young children
*To promote healthy family functioning

- Special Needs:
- Head Start focuses on promoting positive self-worth, respect for individual differences and the ability to develop appropriate social skills. Head Start must make available ten percent of its enrollment to children with disabilities. Children with disabilities have a right to a free appropriate public education
