The primary goal of a Montessori program is development of the whole child. This program helps each child reach his/her full potential in all areas of life, social skills, emotional growth, physical coordination as well as cognitive preparation for further education. In this way children become positive, confident and responsible life-long learners and problem solvers. The Montessori classroom is set up according to the childrens physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, and it offers child-sized furniture and carefully designed learning materials. The class consists of mixed age groups, so children can learn and help each other without the pressure of competition. Children can move freely and choose their own activities at their own pace, either alone or with others. Teachers are loving, responsible adults. Through observations and interactions with children, they set up realistic goals for each child, and then find an appropriate moment to ensure that concepts and skills are introduced at a time when the child is most sensitive to them.
