At Stepping Stone, we recognize that caring for your child is a privilege. We also recognize that parents have choices with regard to child care. We encourage parents to visit as many facilities as they can before deciding which center best serves their child’s interest. We understand that deciding on a child care facility is one of the most important and stressful decisions that parents need to make. As such, they need to have many choices and, more importantly, complete peace of mind with the ultimate decision.
We accept children from the ages of 2 years through kindergarten. Because we believe that each child is unique, our programs encourage your child’s individuality while offering the many benefits of a group experience. Above all, we believe in providing a safe and happy environment for your child, where he or she enjoys learning.
We also have Kindergarten Aftercare for Public School 5 and 6 year olds. We walk daily to the River Edge Public School (The New Bridge Center, the Borough’s Kindergarten Building) and pickup children at 11:45am and 2:45pm each day. These children may also attend full day when the public schools are closed and Stepping Stone is open.
We have been serving the community for over two decades. We are conveniently located within a minute off Kinderkamack Road, at the intersection of Howland & Bogert. We are also a couple of minutes, off Forest Avenue.

It is now widely accepted that the entire foundation of what we learn & how we learn it is determined before the age of six. Therefore ‘good beginnings never end’ & as such it is our responsibility to ensure that we offer a program that is constantly challenging & yet allows a child to be a child, so that they enjoy learning.
Quality child care is only possible when parents & teachers work together to address the individual needs of every child & yet create an environment that offers every child the many benefits, of a group experience.

Cooperation & understanding between parents & staff is essential for our success. Your comments, suggestions, questions and concerns are always important & welcome. We maintain an open door policy which means that you may visit whenever you wish and, of course, you are welcome to call us as & when you like. Staff will share with you many anecdotes and much information about your childs day. Similarly, parents are requested to share any circumstances about the childs home life which may affect his/her day.
