Owl Hill Learning Center achieved STAR IV designation in May 2008. An overview of the various STAR level standards is available upon request. The staff has worked hard to receive this status and is to be commended for their efforts and commitment to improving services to Owl Hills children and families. It is an exciting time in Pennsylvania for initiatives in early childhood care and education. And once again the Owl Hill Learning Center is at the forefront of this progress.

PA Pre-K Counts

The Owl Hill Learning Centers were awarded two separate grants for the 2007-2008 school year to enhance the existing prekindergarten programs in the Lititz and Lancaster sites and to offer quality early education to additional children. The Lititz site is now part of a partnership with Manheim Township School District and opened a new site at Reidenbaugh Elementary School offering prekindergarten to 17 children there. Likewise the Lancaster site is a PA PreK Counts partner with the School District of Lancaster. The Lititz and Lancaster sites have been able to fill under utilized capacity in both K/3 and K/4 classes and in some cases have been able to offer financial assistance to existing qualified families. The additional recourses have also resulted in increased staff compensation and training additional equipment instructional and class materials and support for the educational program.

Special Programs

Parents are informed of special programming through periodic newsletters or informational sheets. We try to incorporate many different special programs for the children enrolled at Owl Hill Learning Center. Staffing and Licensure

The staff is the backbone of any sound educational and child care program. Preschool and Kindergarten teachers hold degrees in education or related fields and are certified by the state of Pennsylvania. Supervisors and assistant teachers meet or exceed the standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare which licenses all child care facilities. All staff possess criminal history and child care abuse clearances in accordance with DPW regulations.
