Open Arms curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best though doing (i.e.
hands-on activities) as well as through play. Our curriculum is structured around monthly
thematic units of study that are exciting to young children and are relevant to the environment in
which we live. Teachers provide a wide variety of age appropriate activities in a caring nurturing
environment.
Our classrooms are set up in learning centers. The centers encompass a variety of interest
areas including books dramatic play literacy science math sand and water manipulatives
etc. We follow developmentally appropriate activities as outlined by the NAEYC. Our curriculum
resources include curriculum books by Pam Schiller. We also use Ages & Stages as an
assessment tool.
