Oak Hill Pre-kindergarten

The objective of our pre-K program is to provide each child with the opportunity, through age-appropriate stimulation, to maximize the development of his or her whole personality. Teachers focus on getting to know all aspects of students, focusing on their spiritual, mental, social and physical growth in a Christian environment.

The program consists of two 4-year-old classes and one 5-year-old class. All classes are in session five days a week, dismissing at noon, with an extended day in session until 2:30 p.m. and the availability of after-care until 6 p.m.

Classes are based around centers, which emphasize developmentally appropriate activities for cognitive learning with many opportunities to grow through play. Hands-on centers include art, dramatic play, computer, blocks, listening, writing, math, science, reading and language arts. These activity centers allow students to move freely from one area of the room to another. They develop language through active learning, and students also learn to work with others. Each class has additional enrichment programs that include music, art, Spanish, time in the library and field trips.

In Oak Hills loving, caring and nurturing environment, children develop a sense of self-confidence to help them become increasingly independent and develop a better understanding of the world around them. Oak Hills pre-Kindergarten program, which is under the supervision and accreditation of Oak Hill School and the Tennessee Department of Education, provides for the optimal development of each child as a person.
