The ultimate purpose of education is to give children all the skills needed to be happy, self-sufficient, and responsible adults.
Preschools are the incubators for personality because this is where children figure out who they are as they begin to internalize the self-image that will later determine their behavior and establish the parameters for all their future achievements. Every child starts life with the potential for outstanding academic accomplishments. Young children define themselves according to how they are treated by those around them. Good social interaction skills are imperative to ensure the positive feedback that leads to healthy personality development and high functioning behavior. Children who are liked by their peers, feel secure and and self-confident. Self-confidence leads to expectations of success. Expectations create reality.
People learn best when the process is fun, interactive, and relevant. Motivation is optimized when teaching targets are translated to the student’s perspective and learning is harnessed to the “human nature” engines that drive generic behavior. “Motivational formatting” of teaching targets greatly accelerates the learning process and enables every student to attain high levels of proficiency.
Our most important curriculum priorities are to nurture personal enrichment by promoting qualities like empathy, compassion, emotional maturity and responsibility. By teaching children how to negotiate and compromise, we give them the skills to solve their own problems. Self-confidence leads to success but it is personal enrichment that enables children to be happy and leads to high functioning behavior and the strong personal relationships that give moral support when children are stressed by the challenges of growing up.
