First, and most importantly, children must feel their school is a safe, warm and loving place to be. To fulfill this need, our teachers create an inviting environment dedicated to fostering basic trust and acceptance for each and every child in our school.

To fulfill their thirst for learning, L&L Montessori School is equipped with countless educational activities that have been carefully selected by our teaching staff. Our curriculum offers a well rounded program in which the children can discover learning at their own individual rate. Children are encouraged through specific tasks to develop a sense of order, coordination, concentration and independence. The children also have free time during which they may choose Montessori materials they wish to explore. Our program also includes small and large group activities which include music, singing, arts and crafts, dance, Spanish and Sign Language.

Dr. Maria Montessori, the founder of the Montessori teaching method, believed that no human being is educated by another person. A truly educated individual continues learning long after the hours and years he or she spends in the classroom, because they are motivated from within, by a natural curiosity and love for knowledge. Dr. Montessori therefore concluded, that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but rather to cultivate his or her own natural desire to learn. In the Montessori classroom, this objective is approached in two ways: First, by allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice rather than being forced; and Second, by helping them to perfect their own natural tools for learning so that their abilities will be at a maximum level in future learning situations. The Montessori materials used in our school serve this dual long-range purpose, in addition to the immediate purpose of giving specific information to the child.
