Johnson Elementary Mac

The MAC Program is a morning and afternoon care program for children in the Franklin Special School District. This program, which is overseen by Supervisor Sandy Hime, is designed to emphasize a relaxed and casual atmosphere with stimulating teacher-directed activities. Children are able to choose from a variety of enrichment programs that, due to a shortage of time during the day, they may not have the opportunity in which to participate. These activities benefit children emotionally, socially, physically and mentally. Time is also provided for children to work on homework and tutoring is offered with a certified FSSD teacher. The program is non-discriminating and designed to accommodate children in grades kindergarten through eight.

The mission of the Franklin Special School District Morning and Afternoon Care (MAC) Program is to effectively use school facilities to provide a safe, enriching, and fun place for all students of the district to enjoy during times when school is not in session.

Based on monitoring and feedback, the MAC Program focuses on improvement by remaining up to date on its compliance with the Department of Education licensing requirements. It also provides training opportunities for its staff and offers new enrichment activities that meet the interests and needs of the students served. The MAC Program also seeks grants in order to fund activities and to provide resources and tuition assistance to FSSD students who otherwise might not be able to attend.
