My name is Lana Green, Director of the Hixson UMC Child Development Center (CDC). The CDC exists to provide, within a Christian atmosphere, opportunities which meet the educational needs of the early childhood years and emphasizes growth in all areasphysical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Classes offered include morning classes (9:00a.m.- 1:00p.m.) for 3 and 4 year olds, all-day care for 3 and 4 year olds (7:00a.m.-6:00p.m.), and before and after school care for elementary age children (through 5th grade) who are transported to the church by their school bus (Hixson Elementary or Big Ridge Elementary).

At Hixson United Methodist Child Development Center (HUMCDC) we strive to provide a balanced program in a Christian atmosphere that will further the emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and physical development of each child.
Our program is a church related program ministry and we strive through actions and teachings to give our children basic Christian concepts. We want the children to feel and experience Gods love.
Our staff is one of concern and love for children. Our staff is trained in CPR and First Aid and continues to grow professionally through training and workshops in the child development field. We work to serve as a childs natural step from home to school, recognizing the value of play and developmentally appropriate practices. Our staff provides opportunities to learners for self selection at interest areas, creative art projects, music, story times, dramatic play, outdoor play, gymnasium play, conversation, and teacher guided group activities.
