Greater Quincy Child Care Center

Preschool in Quincy, MA 02169

In 1984, Howard Johnson’s opened a daycare center to service the daycare needs of their
employees and families in the community. In 1986, when Howard Johnson’s moved out of the
North Quincy area, a group of parent volunteers took over the operation and management of the
center and the Center was re-named, Greater Quincy Child Care Center. GQCCC continues to
operate today as a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors made up of parent
volunteers. In June of 2004, GQCCC relocated to a brand-new facility on Willard Street at the
Quincy/Braintree line, designed specifically for the needs of our children.

The child care program accommodates up to 88 children per day, ages 8 weeks to 7 years,
including a full-day Kindergarten. Quality staffing, parent participation and community
involvement have all played a part in making the Center a success.

Our program is based on the belief that it is imperative to foster the development of the whole
child; socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and creatively. Our dynamic, stimulating
environment enables growth to occur in all developmental area, while simultaneously
supporting the individual needs of each child.

GQCCC admits children of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges,
programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the Center. It does
not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, cultural heritage,
political beliefs, gender, or marital status in administration of its educational policies.

Parental Visits

Parents with children enrolled at the Center are welcome to visit their child and his or her room
at any time. We encourage parents to spend time in the classroom and they are welcome to join
us for breakfast and/or lunch.

Fundraising

Since the Center is a non-profit organization, we depend heavily on fundraising activities for a
large part of the Center’s financial support and as a main resource for improving and enhancing
the children’s environment. Parents are strongly encouraged to support and join in ALL
fundraising efforts throughout the year.
