Foothills Montessori School

Foothills Montessori School provides children (ages 3-14) with an exceptional education thatteaches to the whole child. Our program is based on the time-tested, well-balanced Montessori method; our environment is nurturing, respectful, challenging and inspiring.

Special Needs:

Teachers are constantly alert to special needs that a student may
have.
It is important for parents to be aware that FMS is not a special
needs school, and we do not have the resources to adequately se
r-
vice some special needs.
If students appear to n
eed possible inte
r-
vention or additional help outside the range of a normal classroom
env
i
ronment in order to be successful over the short or long term,
either academically or
socially, the teacher refers the child to the
Special Needs committee of the scho
ol. In conjunction with the
teacher, the Special Needs commit
t
ee may hold a conference with
the pa
r
ents,
sometimes
requesting additional testing through Child
Find or anothe
r ap
plicable testing agency. When appropriate, we
require that all students
which
appear to have special needs, or have
special needs determined by applicable professionals submit to the
follo
w
ing
:

Parents must access, if determined necessary,

sistant paid for by the

ent,

cial classes
or
services
through the Clark County School District
or
any
other inte

vention
that may be

sistently use these additional resources determined to be
needed in order for their child to remain en
rolled in Foothills
Montessori School. Parents must also follow up with all tes

ing or resources in a timely ma
n
ner.

access and to provide for both through transportation and f
