NACOG Head Start is a comprehensive, quality and unique program designed for eligible 3-5 year old children and their families. We meet the needs of children and families through the component areas of: Education, Social Services, Parent Involvement, Health, Dental, Nutrition, Mental Health, and Special Needs.

We specialize in family oriented services, developmentally appropriate practices, culturally diverse activities, advocacy and community involvement. Head Start is an excellent early childhood development program dedicated to helping families prepare for their future.

We believe that families are the foundation of our communities, and we believe in the betterment and enrichment of children in society. Our program is dedicated to supporting families in a positive and productive way.

We are dedicated to developing a partnership with families fostering self-esteem in parents, children and staff, and are guided by the principle that parents are their child’s first educator.

Our ultimate goal is to prepare and empower children and families for success by developing building blocks of self-reliance and stability.

NACOG Head Start & Early Head Starts program philosophy is one of inclusion. This is represented through classroom and home base opportunities being made available to children with disabilities. Our programs are required, by our performance standards, to provide program opportunities for children identified with special needs. A minimum of 10% of our enrollment possibilities are available to children with special needs. In our preschool (3-5 year old) programs these children should be within the Arizona Department of Education Guidelines for Preschool Exceptional Services. This means an IEP (Individual Education Plan) in place. In Early Head Start an IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) should be in place.
