Creches staff practices a developmentally appropriate approach to early childhood education. Licensing guidelines are set forth by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Our curriculum embraces components of many different theories and practices. The uniqueness of each individual child (individually appropriate) as well as the group of children (age appropriate) is considered in planning the classroom activities. Parents are recognized as childrens first and most important teachers and are the primary educators. The teachers and staff are supportive of parents and families and involve parents in goal setting for children. Each child will have the opportunity to learn from educated teachers, using Funshine Express curriculum, with a positive, monthly non-denominational Christian supplement. Daily curriculum will include scheduled lesson plans, art projects, reading, playtime, hands-on learning; opportunities for small and large motor skill strengthening, early printing skill work, music time, and more. Children will learn to begin their day and meals with prayer, in addition to being taught early table manners. Although Christian values will be taught; honoring and respecting diversity of all families is a strong value. Children will be encouraged to participate in all classroom activities; however, will never be forced to do so.

Our educational philosophy, along with Funshine Express curriculum borrows from theories that support the interaction viewpoint where genetic makeup and environment, and nature and nurture are more or less equal in shaping environment with development being the result of experience coupled with the way a child interprets, recognizes, or modifies the experience. Portions of several different theories and approaches to early childhood curriculum are practiced including concepts from Emilia, Maslow, Piaget, Erickson, and Vygotsky.
