Our curriculum emphasizes the development of social, physical and cognitive skills through interactive, hands-on experiences. Early Childhood teaching is often theme-based and always age-appropriate. Particular attention is given to the development of literacy skills; by Junior Kindergarten many students are familiar with upper and lower case letters and display pre-reading skills. Senior Kindergarten language arts includes journal writing and basic instruction on parts of speech and punctuation. Students learn to write their original thoughts phonetically while learning accurate spelling of selected words in class. at all Early Childhood grade levels, children are exposed to outstanding children’s literature and authors.
Math skills are also a core teaching element, and are emphasized with hands-on examples, such as coins and cooking. In science, children explore plants and bugs or take to the campus to learn physics by blowing bubbles. Early Childhood is also when Congressional’s exceptional foreign language program starts, as Junior Kindergartners begin to learn French or Spanish.
Congressional parents are confident in knowing their children are being educated in a comfortable and nurturing environment. This environment provides an educational curriculum that allows children to achieve at their highest potential.
