Our philosophy is to present developmentally appropriate programs for the children we care for. We believe it is in the best interests of young children to have the opportunity to learn through a concrete, play-oriented approach to early childhood education. We want to honor and respect the developmental differences in children.

The staff and students working in our centers provide a warm and accepting atmosphere for the children. Beginning with the first moment of separation and experience in the world outside the home, we provide a secure child-centered “second home” to foster self-confidence and self-esteem.

The excellent teacher/child ratio insures each child considerable individual attention. We provide materials and schedule daily activities to stimulate the childs imagination, creativity, problem-solving skills, language development, social skills, and large/small muscle coordination. Independence, self-control and self-direction are encouraged. It is our goal to increase the childs store of knowledge, and stretch his/her attention span.

The relationship with families/parents is an integral part of the Child Development Center, and is primarily facilitated through the districts Teen Parent Program and Churchill High Schools Teen Parent Seminar and classes.

Language Development is one of the most important goals in our program. We emphasize reading, using high-quality childrens literature, engaging in conversations with each individual child, and encouraging children to express themselves verbally and non-verbally through creative materials. Thanks to a generous grant from FirstBook, we supply families with numerous new books for their children throughout the school year.

The Churchill Child Development Center admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and other school-administered programs.
