Our school is a non-profit program of Christ Lutheran Church. We are a traditional Preschool wrapped in Christian values. Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment dedicated to each individual child’s growth and development while learning through play. Our school affirms:
the interest of parents in the continued growth and wellbeing of their children at the ages of three, four, and five years; learning as a God given challenge and opportunity with exciting and fulfilling potential; the faith of the parents as contributory to the responsible development of their child. Our aim is to help each child develop basic skills in all areas of growth: emotional, social, physical, and intellectual. We strive to do this through individual and group experiences, using a wide variety of materials and activities. Our program is flexible and takes into consideration the children’s interests, their individual potentials, and their varied needs. Well-defined behavioral limits help support the child’s self respect, while directing energies and emotions constructively.
Play is a very important part of a child’s development. Through play children learn to interact with others, role model adults, be creative, and learn many socialization skills. Children are given an ample opportunity of play time. During play time there is a lot going on. Children are learning to interact with others, role model adult’s, meet new friends explore how things work, look at books, listen to music, share, many opportunities to be creative through their art work, learn to share an adults attention, and many other situations to experience through play. Play is a very important part of our curriculum. What looks like play can really be work.
Our staff is an ecumenical one with experience in teaching, and raising children of their own. It is not our policy to indoctrinate through classroom activities, but to be simply what we are—a community program of Christ Lutheran Church. Our experience has been that non-Lutherans and non-Christians have found our total program to be an excellent one in the field of early childhood education. At Christ Lutheran we stress the importance of parents and teachers working together for the benefit of the child. Different activities will be planned during the year where parents will have the opportunity to volunteer or visit the school for special activities.
Christ Lutheran has an open door policy. At any point a parent is encouraged to speak with a staff member over any issues or concerns. Parents concerns are our priorities. Confidentiality is always maintained.
Christ Lutheran Nursery School does not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, political belief, national origin, disability, or marital status.
