Children's Rocky Mountain School

The Childrens Rocky Mountain School is a preschool for children ages 3 to 5, located in Carbondale, Colorado. Were on the CRMS high school campus, just west of downtown Carbondale, along the Crystal River with a beautiful view of Mt. Sopris.

Classrooms are designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage childrens creativity. Learning spaces are designed to attract and delight children, leading them to become actively involved in their own learning experiences and discoveries. Materials provide a wide range of selection from concrete and manipulative to the more abstract and symbolic. Reading and writing are recognized as important skills, among others, in helping children acquire ideas and think critically.

We focus on creativity and self expression through art, music and movement, language and literacy, and dramatic expression. We emphasize problem solving and social-emotional development as tools to creating a cooperative child-centered community. We teach environmental awareness and each childs responsibilities to their environment. Special programs include a general introduction to Spanish, cross country skiing, and scientific investigation.
