As Montrose Christian School accomplishes its mission, we desire to paint a picture of where we believe God is taking the ministry:

We see a school that serves like-minded families that are committed to a Christ-centered liberal arts education. The families that make up the school will come from diverse types of cultural backgrounds, but yet be committed to the mission and vision of MCS. As a multicultural community, the school will reflect the love of Christ that crosses all cultural and socio-economic boundaries.

We see a school that helps parents develop boys and girls into young men and women that are able to engage the culture. This development will come from a faculty and staff that are committed to Christ, to a God-honoring school culture and to a rigorous academic curriculum. Men and women, who are willing to mentor students in faith, while teaching in their academic disciplines and serving in other roles throughout the school.

We see a school continuing to develop and enhance its curriculum to equip students spiritually and intellectually for the rest of their lives. These developments will raise the bar for academic achievements. The curriculum will not be merely teaching subjects, but will integrate faith and scholarship, designed to develop critical thinking and persuasive communication skills. We see a curriculum that culminates in a senior thesis and class trip that allows for the world to become the classroom.

We see a school that excels outside of the classroom as well, developing well-rounded students. MCS will provide students opportunities to reflect Christian character and beauty through extracurricular activities. We see students honoring Christ with excellence and success in athletics, fine arts (such as music, drama and art), clubs and oratory teams (such as debate and speech).

We see students who are actively engaged in the classroom, learning with enthusiasm. We see students progressing through MCS, prepared to engage the culture, unshaken by the various worldviews, and able to defend the faith in intellectual and non-embarrassing ways. We see students who know how to think but also know how to communicate in an elegant and persuasive manner. We see students who become leaders in our world. In the midst of a culture that has abandoned God, we see students who will make an impact, paving the way and making disciples of the generation that will follow them. We see students committed to holiness, who will fulfill God’s purposes for their lives by living and proclaiming the redemptive love of Christ.

We see Montrose Christian School impacting the world for the glory of God, one student at a time.

We uncompromisingly hold to the following truths:

The Bible is the eternal, infallible, inerrant Word of God and is the foundation for everything we say and do. (1 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21) The Triune God, not man, is the ultimate source of Truth in all areas of life. God is the Creator as set forth in Genesis 1. We believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – distinct yet one. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28: 19, 20) The virgin born Jesus Christ – all man and all God – died a vicarious, sacrificial death to restore man to God. We hold that Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead to sit at the right hand of the Father in heaven forever. (John 3:16; Romans 5:8-12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4) A person is not complete without a personal experience of salvation through Jesus Christ. Man, though created perfect, through the fall as recorded in Genesis is now separated from God because of his sin nature. It is only through Jesus Christ that one can enter the presence of God and have eternal life. (Genesis 3; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9) We are responsible for our responses and actions in accordance with all of God’s revealed truth. (Hebrews 9:27-28; Romans 14:12)

Basic Beliefs

In accordance with the foundations laid by our Philosophy and Statement of Faith, WE BELIEVE THAT:

Children are each uniquely created by God for His purpose. Students thrive in a safe, loving, and nurturing learning environment. There is eternal value in Christian schools partnering with parents to educate students. A challenging liberal arts education within the context of a Christian worldview fosters growth in all areas of a student’s life. Character development guided by God’s absolute Truth equips students for life and leadership.
