The Weekday School is housed in the magnificent Riverside Church and overlooks the Hudson River. Its distinct neighborhood includes the stately buildings of Columbia University and Teachers College; Union Theological Seminary Jewish Theological Seminary and Manhattan School of Music.

The school facilities consist of nine classrooms a library 1 art room 1 music and movement room; 2 large roof-top playgrounds 1 full-sized gymnasium a school office an admissions office 1 Rainy Day Room and 2 kitchens. The classrooms are spacious airy well-lit and fully equipped with materials that are developmentally and culturally appropriate. The teaching staff is qualified and experienced and share a love for young children.

The school philosophy is based on a multicultural approach to teaching young children and we believe that learning best occurs when new concepts build upon each child’s prior experiences. By accepting each child’s experiences and drawing them into the curriculum we are in fact affirming their individual backgrounds and cultures which results in a tremendous increase in their self-confidence and self-esteem. This belief leads to a strong emphasis on family involvement both inside and outside the classrooms. Effective communication between parents and teachers builds a level of trust comfort and clarity within the school community.
