St. James Brethren Church

Center in Fairplay, MD 21733

King’s Kids opened in August of 2003 with an after school program. In August 2005 we opened the Child Care center including children from 6 weeks of age to 12 years old. We currently have 5 classrooms and an after school program. In December 2008, our center was nationally accredited with the Maryland State Department of Education which took a lot of hard work and dedication from the staff and parents to accomplish. The classrooms follow the creative curriculum. In addition we weave character building development and the principles of the Bible into our curriculum.

Our teachers are college graduates and hold Maryland State Certifications in teaching. In addition our teachers and assistants participate in annual educational workshops and are certified in CPR and First Aid.

We encourage families to arrange a tour. Feel free to bring your child for a visit while classes are in session. Meet our staff, see our safe and secure facility, and learn about our growth-oriented programs and activities.

Michelle

Sending my son off to preschool was difficult. Being a stay at home mom I was used to spending all day with him. The director and staff at King's Kids made the transition easier for both my son and I. The director of the school was empathetic to my uneasiness as she had children of her own and was able to relieve me of my concerns. Everyday I dropped him off I had to use an ID to enter the school, this made me feel confident that my child was safe and secure. Once inside I was greeted by welcoming staff who shared with me my son's developmental and intellectual progress. My family developed a healthy and communicative relationship between my son's caretakers along with the director. I was able to contact them at anytime in the day through texting their personal cell phones or through emailing the director. They were prompt to responding to my texts even to minute concerns like if my son ate his fruit or not for snack time! When I picked up my son at the end of the day he was always excited to show me the fun and adorable crafts that he made. He also came home and would tell me about the variety of different topics he learned about at school from tree frogs to firefighters to nutrition. What I appreciated the most about Kings Kid's was their ability to integrate volunteer and charitable initiatives into my son's curriculum. Every month they would reach out to the community through singing for the elderly, baking dog treats for the humane society, or triking on bikes for St. Jude's. It taught my son the importance of compassion and giving back. When our time was finished at King's Kids my son was capable of spelling his name out loud in front of friend's and family. He had developed great social and verbal skills through his constant interaction with other children. I was incredibly proud of him and I felt confident in his readiness for kindergarten. Thank you King's Kids! I would highly recommend this preschool and center!
