West Blvd Adventure Club

West Blvd. Adventure Club meets at West Elementary School which is located at 319 West Blvd. N., in Central Columbia. We meet in the cafeteria, but also have access to the gym and computer lab. The maximum enrollment at West Blvd. The average enrollment is 20 for morning session and 20for afternoon session. Currently, in addition to the two Part-time Site Facilitators, there is 1 Site Assistants at our site.

Our time during operation hours includes a lot of physical activities in the gym and quiet games and crafts in the cafeteria. We also have a large playground with great equipment, including swings, basketball hoops, tetherball, four-square, two large structures for climbing and a large open field for playing.

In the mornings, a parent or an authorized adult must initial the students in on a sign-in sheet. The sheets, printed in weekly increments, have columns for the student’s arrival time and for the the initials of the person bringing the student to Adventure Club. A Site Facilitator or Site Assistant will initial in the student in the afternoon; a parent or other authorized adult must initial them out in the afternoon, noting the time that they departed.

We also use a “Where am I?” board to keep track of the students. The board has 4 categories: Playground, Cafeteria, Gym, and Home. It is the students’ responsibility to change their own name tag when they arrive in the morning, when they come in the afternoon, and when they decide to leave one area for another. They must also inform a staff member when they leave one area for another; we utilize walkie-talkies so that we may communicate with one another and ensure a student’s arrival from one area to another.

West Blvd.has caring staff who are very dedicated to the lives of the children in Adventure Club. It is a fun and enjoyable atmosphere that provides a place for the children to make friends and be safe. The children are provided with lots of opportunities to participate in a wide spectrum of activities. Some of the children’s favorite activities include Capture the Flag, K-Nex, building tents out of sheets, and getting messy doing any number of art projects. West Blvd. Adventure Club is a fun, safe place for kids to spend time with people who love to be with children, while also learning and being stimulated with many of opportunities.
