YMCA Virtual Y P.S. 177

Center in Brooklyn, NY 11204

Y After School programs are offered free-of-charge and currently operate in 5 public elementary schools in the Bronx.
It is based on a program model that focuses on learning enhancement health and recreation and building competence
and confidence in children. The program runs every regular school day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in a supervised and
structured environment providing a safe after school alternative for children. Literacy is a critical component of the
Virtual Y. The children participate in our Y After School Book Club where they are encouraged to read and reach reading
milestones. To further help this the YMCA has teamed up with Scholastic which donates one book for every child
enrolled in the program each year. This facility is authorized to administer over-the-counter topical ointments only
