Philosophy
There are two basic beliefs that guided the development of the Kid Spa Austin preschool curriculum. First, we believe that our primary purpose as educators is to help children succeed in their environment. To us, this means that our first priority is to help children learn basic self-help skills, to understand their emotions and to give them strategies for calming themselves when they feel angry, frustrated, afraid or sad. From there, we need to teach children to respect and care for others and to form healthy relationships with peers and teachers. Finally, we need to integrate science and social studies concepts so that children understand their world and can make safe and healthy choices. To this end, our programs are designed with the whole child in mind and focus on content most relevant to helping a child navigate within their current and upcoming daily environments.

Our second core belief is that the attitudes children form about school, work and themselves in early years will carry with them for the rest of their lives. We believe that school and work can be fun and hope that children in our programs will come to this conclusion as well when they learn by asking questions, playing games and creating. We also encourage persistence so that children learn that they can overcome feelings of frustration and look forward to the satisfaction they feel for a job well done. Our goal for teaching foundational concepts in math and reading is to help children thrive in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. We believe that feeling successful in early grades will help children to incorporate “being a good student” into their identity. Once this happens, children will become internally motivated to do well in school so that they can maintain this positive self-image. In summary, through everything that we do, it is our goal to instill the persistence, work ethic and confidence children need to become happy, successful learners throughout their lives.
