The mission of the Child Development Center of First Baptist Church is to provide a high quality pre-school education for children. We strive to reach out to children regardless of race, religion, color, or national origin, including those of economically disadvantaged families. Let the children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs.
While we do not teach doctrine to the children enrolled in CDC, our families should be comfortable in a Christian environment, where teachers communicate to the children, in word and deed, a trustworthy God as a loving companion, helper, friend and creator.
The members of First Baptist Church participate in a active community ministry to young children and their families by helping to provide a well-planned professionally directed Child Development Center. Members of the church serve on the CDC Advisory Board and support the center on a variety of levels, including a scholarship fund. CDC opened in September 1969. This year we celebrated 42 years of quality programming for young children and their families.
The Child Development Center receives some funds from the Missouri Department of Health, Child and Adult Food Care Program to assist with our food service.

The focus of our program is active learning, which we believe is the way young children construct knowledge. Children learn by interacting with their environment and other people. Play is the work of the child as he/she strives to understand the world around. With the guidance of their teachers, children learn to get along with others. Our teachers provide a rich environment to challenge your child across the developmental spectrum.
Throughout the day teachers lead activities such as shared stories, music, and art. Our program includes nutritional snacks and a hot lunch. We give the children opportunities for outside play and exploring nature on our playground. On rainy days we go to the gym for active play. Each class plans special visitors and field trips that help children learn about our community.
We are proud to have a diverse group of families involved at CDC. We have families from all over Boone County and the world. We encourage active parent participation in each childs learning.
