Childcare Matters is a non-profit, child-care facility located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We provide full-time quality care and age appropriate education in a loving, stimulating, and secure environment.

The Center serves up to 36 children, ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years, or just old enough for entry to kindergarten. Operating hours are from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, year-round (except for designated holidays and teacher workdays, see current yearly calendar). Tuition is offered an a sliding scale, based on income.
Intentionally, the children in the Center are diverse in terms of race, creed, and socioeconomic status. The Center curriculum is designed to enhance social interaction and development of emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. We recognize that each child is unique and special. We value each child’s cultural heritage and respect the differences among us.
The staff includes a Director and 8 teachers, all selected for their special qualities and talents in the care and nurturing of young children. Often a work-study student from the University of North Carolina and qualified volunteers provide additional assistance.
The administrative operation is provided by the Director and the Board of the Center, composed of parents of the Center and an elected member of the current staff. Childcare Matters is member-run, registered as a 501©(3) non-profit organization in which parents are encouraged to participate in the life of the Center.
