In keeping with the CNS mission our curriculum focuses on the whole child. Lesson plans encourage the child to use their logical linguistic spatial musical bodily and inter/intrapersonal intelligences.
Teachers and the director meet regularly to review and adapt lesson plans and to develop a wide variety of individual and group activities that address the growth of the whole child. We also place a strong emphasis on learning through play.
CNS children enjoy free play learning centers and many opportunities to play in one of two large multipurpose rooms or on the playground. We believe play fosters communication skills the ability to deal with emotions and the capacity to relate to others.
Parents are kept involved and are encouraged to communicate frequently with teachers. In the spring of each year parents are given portfolios of their child which help evaluate their developmental abilities in each of the intelligences.
