CCC offers a well-balanced approach to early childhood education, striving to create a non-competitive environment. Children are provided with a wide variety of developmental materials, including access to an extensive children’s library and two areas of outdoor play equipment and space. An experienced, caring staff, trained in early childhood education, provide support and have considerable resources to share with families in an understanding and non-judgmental environment.
Parents have peace of mind at CCC that their child is cared for in a responsive, safe, environment where children can learn through play and where emphasis is placed on being a family-oriented center. Our goal is to concentrate on the growth of the whole child; our schedule reflects the needs of working parents; and, our policies attempt to address parent concerns whenever possible.

Carter embraces a play-based and child-centered curriculum philosophy. It is the strong belief of the faculty at Carter that each preschooler has the right to play during the preschool years and that it is through this play that children learn all the wonders of the world. Teachers structure inviting learning environments where children explore literacy, science, math, art, music and movement. Teachers also balance large group and small group activities while attending to individual needs. The curriculum varies each year, as it emerges from the interests of the children. A wide range of developmentally appropriate materials is offered in each classroom. Carter provides a safe, predictable daily schedule for children with many opportunities for individual choice and flexibility. While Carter meets the needs of the whole child, the social and emotional development of preschoolers is regarded as the foundation for future growth and learning.
