Hi, I’m Brooke! I’ve lived in NYC for almost 4 years and work full-time Monday through Friday – I am seeking evening and/or weekend babysitting opportunities. lam based in Ridgewood, Queens and am conveniently located off the L train.

As the sister of two brothers with special needs (one has a spinal cord injury and uses a wheelchair, the other is on the autism spectrum and has various behavioral issues), I’ve spent my whole live in a caregiver role that requires patience, understanding, and accommodation. l’ve also volunteered in “respite care” spaces, working directly with children and adults with special needs. I also served as a peer mentor in college, working one-on-one with a student with an intellectual disability. Further, I was paired with an adult in the community with special needs as part of my Disability Studies program we went on excursions in town, cleaned her home, etc.

I have also been a babysitter for a former colleague’s child, then 8 years old. This included preparing for bedtime, driving to extracurricular activities, helping with homework, etc. I have also previously been a summer camp counselor, leading and caring for multiple children of all ages with mobility differences. This included ensuring safety, helping with hygiene needs, and of course keeping them entertained!

I would love to put my experience to use in New York and spend time with your child(ren)! I am happy to be in your home with them, as well as take them out for activities in the city. If you think we’d be a good fit or have any questions at all, please reach out :)
