Im Mimi and I just moved to NYC from LA to study at Pace University. A few things about myself: I have three younger sisters, I love to travel and explore, and my favorite things to do in my free time are drawing, writing, and cooking. Since I am a full time college student, I have limited weekday flexibility and will not be available on Friday before 10 and all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Another important thing to note is that I recently renewed my adult and pediatric CPR, first aid, and AED certification on 5/20/23.

I love to share my love for art and reading with the children I care for by doing arts and crafts and story time. I think arts and crafts is a great activity for children because they have the opportunity to feel proud of something they worked hard on to make and theyre able to let their imaginations run wild. I love playing games that allow kids to use their imaginations. When I worked as a summer camp leader this year, my favorite game to play with my first grade class was called I See I See, which is a more fun version of Simon Says. It was also a good game to play when the kids had a lot of energy that they needed to get out. Board games and card games like uno are also great because they can be fun and also serve as teaching opportunities for rule following, good sportsmanship, and patience.

I’ve done a lot of volunteer work throughout high school and college. For the past three years, I’ve volunteered at my Church’s vacation bible school program. In high school as well as college, I volunteered as a peer tutor for both French and ESL. Tutoring is how I fell in love with teaching, and teaching is how I fell in love with working with kids.
