Hi, my name is Jill and Im so glad to have this space to briefly introduce myself. As funny as it sounds, Ive been told my entire life that I must have been born a mother, and its probably not that far from the truth.

I started babysitting when I was just 10 years old, for a family with three children under the age of 5, including an infant. I started as a mothers helper, entertaining the kids while a parent was at home, and within a couple weeks I was on my own, handling diapers and bathing and bedtime duties, as well as preparing quick meals, helping with laundry and small chores, and occasionally staying overnight with the children. Granted, the world was a different place then, but I couldnt have asked for better training. In high school, I worked as a regular sitter/nanny and housekeeper for another wonderful family in town, and spent my summers working full-time as a resident counselor and swim instructor at a lakefront YMCA camp, and as a resident counselor for the ARC.

I dont think it came as a surprise to anyone who knew me when I chose to step away from my career to be a stay-at-home mom. My husband and I were in London working for Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation when we started our family. We returned to the states right before our son was due, after I spent 25 weeks hospitalized for complications, so when we were blessed with a healthy, whopping 10.8 pounder, there was no doubt in my mind that I was meant to be at home with him. Twenty seven years and three children later, I still feel it was the best decision of my life, and now Im going to babble like a proud mom for a minute!

My oldest son is now 26, attended DePaul University, and is newly engaged and living in Chicago. My middle son turns 24 this week, attended College of Charleston and American University, and is living back in the Twin Cities where we lived as a family for almost 10 years. Its hard to believe my daughter is 19 years old. I had the privilege of homeschooling her for two years while she performed in professional theater in the Twin Cities, and now shes in college! She transferred to NYU this year after attending Georgetown her first year, and is continuing her work as an intern in bio-regenerative engineering at Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center.

I must just be a kid at heart, because I love every minute I get to spend in the company of children and Im looking forward to speaking to you.
