I started fairly early babysitting kids. At the age of 10 I took a two day course to get certified with the red cross. I have been babysitting every year since then with varying ages and amount of work depending on what I had going on with school and extra curricular activities. I have watched kids during the day time and night, and I also have a personal policy to care for the house as needed. I don’t do laundry and invade people’s rooms unless I am asked to take care of them while the parents are away. Some of the parents had pets and I took care of them as needed as well. Finally, I have watched a family of older children for an entire weekend. I have experienced kids getting sick on my watch, but I have never had to take anyone to the hospital; Just minor cuts or accidents that normally happen when children play. I have dealt with kids before, during, and after potty training. Overall, I have had new and greater experience each time that has helped me develop my skills as a helper and care giver to give a safe and friendly environment. I am greatly looking forward to being a mother one day and I would also potentially like to explore the Idea of teaching preschoolers or Kindergartners.
