Hello! I’m Charlotte Joles, an 18-year-old student residing in Brooklyn Heights and currently pursuing my studies at Brooklyn College. My journey into caring for and connecting with kids kicked off when I became a volunteer camp counselor during the summer breaks. The camp I worked with was uniquely focused on children with type-one diabetes, with ages ranging from 5 to 12 years old.

This experience shaped me into someone who knows how to relate to kids, establishing a friendly and comfortable rapport while ensuring they understand the importance of kindness and well-behaved conduct. It’s been an incredible learning journey for me, and it’s made me particularly attuned to the specialized care and attention that children with type-one diabetes need.

Beyond my counselor role, I’ve also contributed my time to volunteer at my church’s child care facility. There, I lovingly cared for babies and children while their parents attended services. This experience instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and the understanding of creating a nurturing environment where children can feel safe and happy.
