Hi there!

Im Rachel, a 34 year-old lifelong New Yorker (born & raised in Westchester, in NYC since 2010, currently in Astoria). I have 21 years of childcare experience with children of all ages (though I have limited experience with newborns), as a babysitter, nanny, camp counselor, teaching assistant, and most recently therapist-in-training.

I have a BA in Musical Theatre Studies and an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing (both from NYU) and spent the past decade as a freelance theatre writer & producer while working full-time at a Jewish nonprofit on the UWS. I began social work school in September 2023 and have spent the year interning at a middle school in East Harlem, providing weekly counseling to students, plus crisis intervention and groups (including our Gender-Sexuality Alliance). My career goal is to be a psychoanalytic psychotherapist specializing in children and adolescents.

I have experience working with children who are neurodivergent and living with mental health challenges, as well as siblings & children of family who are neurodivergent, have mental health challenges, and live with chronic illness.

For full disclosure, I identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and have openly displayed tattoos on my arms and leg (nothing with inappropriate/mature content – kids actually think they’re cool!). I sadly do not drive, but I am well-versed in navigating the MTA. I love animals (I have a dog and used to have cats).
