The Montessori School of Wausau, Inc. (MSW), founded in 1970, is a non-profit, parent governed school dedicated to providing high quality programs for children 2 to 6 years of age. Our educational offerings include Montessori preschool classroom curriculum, Hands-On Creative learning Center, and Summer Enrichment Programs. The social nature of our classrooms and emphasis upon respect and concern for others and materials, creates an atmosphere in which cooperative interactions flourish.

We are recognized in the community for the strength of our Montessori program, our creative enrichment offerings, the longevity of our staff and our 40 years of creating a love of learning in children.

The prepared environment- The Montessori classroom is designed with respect for the child. The furniture and equipment are sized for them, creating confidence and a willingness to try new things.
The Montessori Materials- The classroom materials are not only accessible, but attractive and enticing. The materials are arranged in a way so the child can follow the transition from one activity to another.
The Teacher- Known as the directress, the Montessori teacher plays an important role in the development of the child. Planning the learning environment to guide the child to the next activity. Each child is assisted individually, allowing choices from the many learning activities within his/her range of abilities.
