Hi! I am currently a senior at SJU majoring in Health Studies. After graduating I plan on going onto an accelerated nursing program in the Philadelphia area. Growing up being the oldest of my siblings and cousins I was always the one called upon to babysit whenever family had to work an extra shift or go on a date night. After doing this for a while when I was in my early teens I thought I would never enjoy working with children in my life. As I have grown though I have grown up to love working with children of all ages and personalities. This has influenced my life in ways that most would not imagine. Once I graduated from high school I knew I wanted to do something either working with children or improving the lives of children. For example my future career goals right now are to graduate with a nursing degree and work at a children’s hospital or in a pediatric unit. My back up career has always been to get involved in some way to help inner city youth. I saw the disparities between children in low, middle, and high social classes as I grew up with my mom 10 minutes from the city of Wilmington, DE and grew up with my dad in the suburbs far away from Wilmington. I have also been inspired to work with organizations such as Big Brother Little Brother during my freshman year; and Special Olympics during my Sophomore year. Besides all of that the reason I love working with children, is because of their constant energy and positivity. The world to them is new and exciting and they are very curious about just daily items. I also see myself in the same light, but more grown up obviously. I have never lost my childlike energy and positivity as I am a constant optimist. I believe my personality and my compassion for wanting to help would truly make me a great fit in any enviornment.
