Hello!
My name is Sean Vaz, Im 19 years old and I am a freshman at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

I have an extensive background with working and volunteering with children which includes being a camp counselor during the summer of 2016 and 2018 at Incarnation Camp. I planned daily activities for my tent and the unit I worked in, which was 12-13 year old girls. I was also their support whenever they had conflict amongst one another or personal issues.

During the summer of 2017, and well into my senior year, I volunteered at a non-for profit organization called the Go Project. I provided academic and social support for 1st to 4th graders. I was able to help them with written assignments, team building skills, math problems, and participating in extracurriculars like dance and basketball.
For part of my junior year, I volunteered at my elementary school. When I was younger I attended the IDEAL school of Manhattan, which provides an inclusive education for students with and without learning disabilities and special needs. I worked with the students in arts and crafts activities after school and learned about influential artist. It was nice to work with students of different learning abilities, as I wasnt exposed to working with a wide range of students, in terms of dis/abilities in the past.

First semester of mr freshman year at Bates i volunteered at Longley Elementary school, in Lewiston, Maine, which was a part of the fieldwork I completed for the Perspectives on Education class I took. I worked with 5th and 6th graders, who were in their engineering unit, to build free standing towers or mouse traps with basic art materials. There was also a cooking class in which the students made health alternatives to their favorite snack. I worked with the student for 2 hours a week, twice a week.
I have had tremendous results with engaging and forming appropriate, but friendly relationship with the students I have worked with. I have experience working with children ages 6-13.

I am responsible, patient, dependable, experienced, passionate about working with children, punctual, adaptable to working with different types of children, playful, energetic and what I believe as the most important trait: trustworthy

I hope to double major in Psycholgy and Africana Studies.
